Overview
Could be a result of joint pathology throughout the entire body or localized to the specific TMJ. Its causes are many but the main causes could be due to overuse, improper use, or non-traumatic blunt force injury.
Symptoms
Pain at rest and with movement; pain upon palpitation (touch); usually coincides with other maladies affecting multiple other joints in the body.
Diagnosis
Patient with a history of joint disease or inflammation; or findings are consistent with inflammation directory associated with the TMJ without systemic inflammatory disease.
Treatment
Pain management with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
Prognosis
Good with consistent pharmacological management.
