In 1988 Dr. Christensen and his wife, Lynne, founded TMJ Implants, Inc. Today, TMJ Implants, Inc. and two sister companies are the international leaders in prostheses technology and anatomical modeling. Dr. Christensen's pioneering efforts in the field of dental and temporomandibular joint implants led to a unique development over four decades ago, the creation of the Christensen Fossa-Eminence and Condylar Prostheses for partial and total reconstruction of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
Due to the irreversible progression of temporomandibular joint disease (TMD), a disorder of the mandible and skull base, the joints in many patients cannot be repaired. This also holds true for trauma and congenital deformity patients. In these cases, the joints must be replaced through partial or total joint reconstruction.
Today, TMJ Implants, Inc. serves the unique needs of thousands of patients, in a multitude of countries. In addition to prostheses manufacturing, TMJ Implants also provides educational and consulting services to both the national and international oral and maxillofacial surgical communities.
